On 19th of July 2010, at a meeting held in Vranje, Božidar Đelić, the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, and Vensan Deger, the Head of the Delegation of the European Union in Serbia, have signed Contract on Awarding EU Grants for the implementation of the program called “European Partnership with municipalities - PROGRES", worth 17.5 million Euros.

Đelić pointed out that the goal of this program is to the, in the next three years, support the development of the 25 municipalities of the southern and southwestern Serbia, adding that the EU partner could help our country in providing resources for the reform of the administration, equal regional development and European integration.

He also said that the “PROGRES” program provides an opportunity for the development of mostly undeveloped cities and towns in the south and southwest of Serbia and should allow them to enable them to later apply for much larger resources.

“This program will enable work on improving infrastructure and improving the services that municipalities provide to citizens and businesses, the modernization of the principles of good governance and promotion of their own development potential.”
